GameStick Going on Sale End of October

The age of micro-consoles continues. First the OUYA was released and now PlayJam’s console, the GameStick, is slated to be released on October 29th. The device will be sold at Gamestop, GAME and Amazon, CEO Jasper Smith announced. More retail stores will be added for Canada, Europe and the Middle East later this year and Kickstarter backers will receive them the end of this month.

If you are not familiar with the GameStick it is a micro-console that comes with a USB stick which fits inside a controller. You plug the USB into your television and are met with a no frills menu in which you can purchase apps and play them on your tv. The GameStick is to cost $80 in North America and is the biggest competitor for the OUYA. It will be interesting how these mico-consoles fair in the future as the OUYA has already had poor response, hopefully the GameStick will have better reception.
