You are in charge of Rover the sheepdog as he attempts to take Shaun the sheep and his friends through gates, over bridges, across dangerous roads and many other obstacles.
Choose one of three modes; easy, medium and hard. With 25 levels in each, making a total of 75. As the difficulty increases, you have to control more sheep, the obstacles get harder and even the cars on the road go faster!
Rover is a Border Collie dog. You can control both his direction as well as his speed. Not too fast or the sheep will scatter in all directions! Its a real test of your coordination.
The game features a cameo appearance by Fenton the out-of-control pet dog, made famous on YouTube.
Fans of the BBC TV program “one man and his dog” will love this game.
The joystick can be positioned on either side of the screen to make it easier for left handed players.
Sheep Dog is one of those games that demonstrates that gameplay can be far more important than graphics. The visuals here are very stark, tiny details but mostly uninspiring. You control a little sheep dog and you simply need to guide sheep through fences, mazes, over bridges etc. It’s incredibly simple to play but the sheep can be quite unruly so very difficult to master.
The terrains are really challenging but the game has a nice learning curve so it’s very absorbing. The game is not much to look at, but I’ve found it increasingly harder to put down. It’s incredibly basic yet highly addictive. Best of all, it’s also free, so definitely give it a look!
Conclusion: For a free title, Sheep Dog! manages to tick most of the right boxes by presenting you with an interesting puzzle game based around the herding of sheep with your canine friend.
