Developer’s Notes:
Menu Overlay
In version 1.3 we added the menu overlay to the game, this is brought up by tapping the hardware menu button on the phone. It displays how many objects you are currently using, how far your lasers are traveling, and what the combined score of those two is. We save the fewest objects used, shortest distance with lasers, and the lowest combined score, so you can go back and attempt to get better scores on the more complex levels.
Screenshots
Also in version 1.3 we added the ability to take screenshots of your game. Open up the menu overlay(tap the menu button) and tap on “Take Screenshot”. It will save the image onto your SD Card at /Pictures/Refraction. We currently only allow this to save to your sd card, we may include an option to change that if there’s enough demand for it.
Top Toolbar
There is no top toolbar on phones whose screen is smaller. This is due to the inconsistency of screen ratios across devices. Right now there are three-ish main ratios in use, and on the smallest there is no top toolbar to accommodate smaller screens, and then on larger ratio screens we introduce gaps between the toolbars and the grid.
Laser Colors
We decided to use pigment colors rather than light colors for Refraction, but our thinking was based on what the majority of people would have an easier time grasping. As much as we wanted to be more technical with it, using the color wheel colors allowed players to understand the combining and splitting a lot quicker. Sorry to all you out there wondering why the lasers don’t split and merge as you’d expect light to
.
Permissions
We use the external storage permission to save screenshots to.
The internet permission is for analytics tracking by Localytics. It ends up mainly showing us how many people have pirated our game unfortunately
