A lot of games coming out nowadays are using a similar formula of part trading card game and part strategy. Combat Monsters by Rubicon Development is no different. The goal is to create an army of various monsters who will do your every bidding…including rushing into battle to die a fiery death. I’ve heard comparisons of Combat Monsters likening it to a combination of Magic the Gathering and Advance Wars which based on descriptions and screenshots doesn’t seem too far fetched.
Like in any card based game there is a certain strategy to devising your deck and different people have different styles. In Combat Monsters there are tons of monster cards to choose from. In fact, there are 132 monsters, 70 weapons, 28 shields, 42 spells, 22 runes, 12 Heroes cards. Combine this with over 120 maps you can battle on and the choices are huge! There is a campaign mode in Combat Monsters but the real fun is in the online multiplayer. You can play with up to six people at once or even do pass and play with your real life friends. For online matches you can also do quick skirmishes and can battle people cross platform. Yep, you can show whose boss with those Apple users. Combat Monsters has been nine years in the making and is out now so get it while its hot!
